One powerful way to practice self-love right now, no matter where you are in your journey, is by being compassionate to yourself and others. This will allow you to learn and embody unconditional love.
A great excerise for learning compassion is by avoiding saying negative things out loud. Do not speak negatively about others and do not judge or criticize others. Your subconscious mind cannot differentiate between yourself and who you are talking about and it will end up internalizing those thoughts. The more judgemental you are of others, the less compassion your subconscious mind will have for yourself.
This means that any of your progress towards self-love will be destroyed automatically. All of your work will be for nothing.
If you are finding yourself being judgemental about someone, instead of judging them or saying something negative, look inward and ask yourself why you are feeling this way. You are responding in a negative way because you are being triggered by something, so question what it is that's triggering you. Look within and heal that part of you, which most often tends to be your inner child.
For example, if someone is wearing bright colored clothes or neon hair and that bothers you, ask yourself why. What about it is bothering you? Is it too expressive? Were you not allowed to express yourself as a child? Explore possibilities and then heal it. Allow yourself to be "reparented" by you.
